Let the Storm Break Book Review
Book #3: Let the Storm Break by: Shannon Messenger (book #2 of Let the Sky Fall)
Overall rating: 8/10
Let the Storm Break is a good extension of the Sky Fall series, in my opinion. While in most book series, the first book is better than the second one, in this one, the second book is better than the first one.
In this book, there is a lot of character development; especially for Audra’s mom. She’s been an important figure throughout the book series so far, and she’s a perfect example of a morally gray character. Hopefully, in the next book, she will have some more action in the book.
It was really nice to finally meet Solana and Raiden as well. Considering that they are such important figures for Vane, it’s kind of surprising that they only appear in the second book of the series.
Vane and Audra’s relationship also develops in the story. While in some parts, I was a little unsure about whether or not they would remain a couple, their relationship came out stronger than it was before by the end of the book. Even though they’re separated in most of the book, there’s still a lot of romance to enjoy.
This book successfully opens up into the world of the sylphs more, but there’s still some more room to improve. I would definitely like to see some more epic showdowns. To be honest, I’m not sure what kind of ending might be achieved by the end of the third book, but I hope that it doesn’t disappoint. However, compared to the first book, a lot more time passes in the book, and a lot more stuff happens, so there might still be a conclusive ending by the end of the third book.
Overall, this book really grew compared to the first one in the series. There was a lot of conflict and character development. I’m excited to see where this book goes next!
